FVMA Annual Conference 2025

The FVMA Annual Conference is the premier event hosted by the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), celebrating 96 years of veterinary education. This exciting event brings together veterinary professionals, educators, and industry leaders from across Florida and beyond.

FVMA Annual Conference – Creative Direction & Branding

For the FVMA Annual Conference, I took on the role of creative direction, branding, and overseeing various design projects, collaborating closely with the Director of Conference and Events to bring her vision to life. My responsibilities included refining and updating print materials, supervising design work from contractors, creating social media graphics, and providing video editing support.



Challenge: The primary challenge was revamping the conference theme, as previous branding had not resonated with attendees. The Director of Conference and Events wanted to shift the theme to the ‘80s, a bold move to engage attendees more effectively. The main challenge was integrating the ‘80s aesthetic with a veterinary focus, without altering the existing conference logo or color palette, as these had already been distributed for use in printed materials.


Solution: I conducted extensive research into '80s design elements, graphics, and cultural references to ensure the theme was both authentic and engaging. I developed several initial concepts, blending iconic '80s style with veterinary-related imagery. The final designs successfully integrated the vibrant, energetic feel of the '80s while maintaining the professionalism and relevance to the veterinary field. The result was a cohesive, visually compelling branding package that brought the new theme to life, without compromising the established brand identity.


Outcome:

The branding for the conference received outstanding feedback from attendees, exhibitors, and speakers. Many praised the creative blend of pets dressed in '80s gear and the incorporation of iconic '80s elements, which truly brought the theme to life. Attendees had a clear visual understanding of the conference’s theme, and the branding resonated with them, creating a memorable and engaging experience. The success of this project reinforced the importance of thoughtful creative direction that both captivates and clearly communicates the conference’s purpose.
