Voyager Vinyl – Creative Direction & Branding

Voyager Vinyl began as a small storefront, but with its growing popularity, the owner recognized the need for a professional brand identity. I was tasked with creating a comprehensive branding package that included logos, collateral materials, merchandise, and packaging designs. These elements were designed not only to enhance the in-store experience but also to ensure consistency when shipping products to customers, reflecting the brand's passion for vinyl records and its commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Challenge: The primary challenge was that the client requested the branding to take a sci-fi direction, which required a careful balance of futuristic elements while maintaining the nostalgic and timeless appeal of vinyl records.

Solution: To tackle this, I began by researching movies, comics, and the influence pop art had on sci-fi design. I started with the logo, combining the imagery of a typical vinyl record with a U.F.O., while incorporating a few subtle Easter eggs within the design. For the pattern, I created a mix of space and sci-fi graphics, including planets, stars, aliens, and the U.F.O. from the logo, tying the entire design together. To reflect the sci-fi and pop influences, I chose a color palette of blues, greens, and black, evoking the energy of both genres while maintaining a bold, eye-catching aesthetic.
